In 2004, John received his BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design in NYC. He has worked as a freelance illustrator and painter since 2007 and began teaching with youth arts programs in 2009 including the Pacific Northwest College of Art and the Portland Child Art Studio.

He began creating collaborative mural projects in 2016 with schools and youth programs, beginning with George Middle School in Portland, Oregon. He then went on to create further projects with; Village Home home school center in Beaverton Oregon; Brewster Academy High School in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; and Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon.

“ I believe that through participation in COLLABORATIVE ART projects like MURALS, participants are immersed in opportunities for building self-confidence, developing strong communication skills, engaging in self-expression and also for gaining a sense of empowerment within a community.

Also, the works of Art - MURALS , resulting from these projects, create a visual legacy for schools and surrounding community to enjoy and appreciate well into the future. “

WE WILL LOOK AT EXAMPLES OF OTHER MURALS AND ARTISTS TO INFORM THE KIND OF MURAL THE STUDENTS ARE INTERESTED IN CREATING. ONCE APPROVED BY THE SCHOOL THE PAINTING PROCESS WILL BEGIN.

i find, that in these large projects, and in my own work, this is when it really pays off. after all the hard work and planning, in the moment you find yourself looking at the finished mural, it seems like you have time traveled to this moment instantly and you can enjoy what you have accomplished.
