John Vance graduated in 2004 with a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design in NYC.
He has been working and teaching locally in Portland Oregon since 2008, with: the Southeast YMCA ARTS center, the Portland Child Art Studio, the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Skyline K-8, Village Home School and George Middle School / SUNSCHOOLS.
Through Collaborative Mural Projects, John aims to bring meaningful and positive collaborative art making experiences to young people in schools and youth programs.
John will work with you and your school to create a custom collaborative mural curriculum that matches your specific schedule. Participants will begin painting right away and will learn in a “hands on” way how to handle and apply paint with a variety of tools, as well learning relevant art vocabulary in order to be able how to communicate their ideas about color and design.
We will look at examples of other murals and artists to inform the kind of mural the students are interested in creating. Once approved by the school the painting process will begin.
